Abstract: V prehranski verigi nastajajo tudi viški hrane, ki nikakor ne smejo postati odpadek ampak gredo v dobrodelne namene. Tako nastane pomemben člen krožnega gospodarstva, ki zmanjšuje količino odpadne hrane in pomaga pri večji učinkovitosti prehranske verige. Analizirali bomo, kako je v Sloveniji organizirana donacija hrane, kako se izvaja in kateri so pomembni akterji te dejavnosti.

Marta Klanjšek Gunde, PhD in physics and associated professor of graphic technology at University of Ljubljana, works as senior researcher at National Institute of Chemistry, Ljubljana, Slovenia, within the Department of Materials Chemistry. She is the author of more than 120 scientific articles in peer-reviewed and impacted scientific journals, 4 patents, 5 chapters in scientific books and many conference presentations. She was leading several scientific research projects, mentoring 9 PhDs, many master- and diploma works. Her expertise includes advanced materials for various applications in microelectronics, solar-thermal energy conversion, smart coatings, optical security, printed electronics, and thermochromics. Her current work is devoted to R&D of printed functionalities, preferentially for smart packaging, where several challenges of food supply chain are also addressed. She initiated and co-founded the start-up company MyCol, the spin-off of the Institute, working with chromogenic materials for graphic technology applications to identify temperature changes.

Zdenko Podlesnik is the founding president of the Celje Keleia Lions Club and a member of the Association of Lions Clubs of Slovenia since 1997. Since 2000 he has been a member of the Governor's Office, first as a Commissioner for Membership and Clubs Development, and since 2013 as a Governor's Representative - Donated Food Coordinator. He started his business career as a chemical technologist in 1979 at Aero Celje, and after studying economics he led several companies as a director or member of the management board. He devoted most of his business career to the capital market as the director of a brokerage company, a member/president of the Supervisory Board of the Ljubljana Stock Exchange.

Tereza Novak leads the Slovenian Philanthropy since 2002. In 2014, they started a pilot of picking up and distributing excess food from stores to users. It was found soon that users need mostly cooked food, which modify the activities. In 2019, the donated food was distributed by 42 volunteers, and among 96 users. All together, they have distributed 9840 cooked meals, representing the excess food from restaurants cooperating with the Slovenian Philanthropy.
