Abstract: V veliki večini primerov v prehranski verigi potrebujemo embalažo. Posebno pomembna je tista, ki pride v neposredni stik s hrano (primarna embalaža), ki jo je potrebno zelo skrbno nadzorovati. Pregledali bomo konkretne izzive za plastične izdelke, papirno embalažo in bioplastiko. V zeleni prehranski verigi je nadvse pomembna tudi trajnostna logistika, saj le učinkovita povezava deležnikov zagotavlja varnost in kakovost hrane v preskrbovalni verigi.

Marta Klanjšek Gunde, PhD in physics and associated professor of graphic technology at University of Ljubljana, works as senior researcher at National Institute of Chemistry, Ljubljana, Slovenia, within the Department of Materials Chemistry. She is the author of more than 120 scientific articles in peer-reviewed and impacted scientific journals, 4 patents, 5 chapters in scientific books and many conference presentations. She was leading several scientific research projects, mentoring 9 PhDs, many master- and diploma works. Her expertise includes advanced materials for various applications in microelectronics, solar-thermal energy conversion, smart coatings, optical security, printed electronics, and thermochromics. Her current work is devoted to R&D of printed functionalities, preferentially for smart packaging, where several challenges of food supply chain are also addressed. She initiated and co-founded the start-up company MyCol, the spin-off of the Institute, working with chromogenic materials for graphic technology applications to identify temperature changes.

He has many years of experience in the development of label and packaging papers for the food industry. He is the author or co-author of professional and scientific papers in the field of paper production and use, and participates in several domestic and international projects in the field of development of new types of paper for use in packaging.

Eva Štraser is the founder of the start-up company Evegreen, which is engaged in the development of nature-friendly materials based on organic waste obtained from various industrial and import companies. Thus, on the one hand, they relieve the client of costs with waste, and on the other hand, they replace part of their offer with green, innovative products. So far, wheat straw, rice and wheat husks, and coffee husk waste have been used to create new recipes.

She believes that the future lies in integration, as this is the only way to ensure safe and competitive conditions in support of the economy.
